How did you first find out about the triathlon team?

I first found out after researching an interview with Conrad Stoltz for my triathlon blog. I was going through Conrad’s website and found a whole bunch of logos at the bottom of his page. I clicked on the first one and found TriathlonTeam.org!

What does it take for you to say that you are a fan? When is that moment when a random spectator becomes a dedicated fan?

I think that a fan is anyone who would gladly do something for the team or individual they support for free. This doesn’t have to be a service or anything, but a fan would buy merchandise, a fan would send congratulatory (or consolation) letters / emails or even a quick comment on an athlete or team’s blog. And, if they had the opportunity to, a fan would directly help their team or athlete achieve or improve or LIVE, no questions asked.

A spectator just observes and may or may not add commentary on a team or individual. A fan is involved.

Are you a fan of any other sports team and how would you compare that to being a fan to triathlon team?

You know, I’m actually not much of a fan of sports teams in general. I’ve always been more interested in Individual / Endurance Sports and follow the individuals more closely – people like Michael Phelps, Lance Armstrong and Craig Alexander. Of course I do support South Africa when we compete internationally in Rugby or Cricket!!

Being a fan of Triathlon Team is more because I’m a fan of the individual Triathletes that ARE the team! I guess its a little different than being a fan of a conventional Team in that respect.

Brian, thank you for being a fan and your interviews.
